Below is some essential information to get you started.
Training is on Wednesday evenings and girls in school year 7 and below train in the sports hall from 5.00 to 6.15; Years 8 & 9 train from 6.15 to 7.30; Girls in years 10 & 11 train on Fridays from 6.00 to 7.30, they may also be invited to play with the senior players on a Wednesday from 7.30.
We have 5 qualified coaches plus assistants working with the juniors and they ensure that training is safe and enjoyable. Qualified first aid personnel are also in attendance.
How do I join and how much does it cost?
You just need to turn up to a training session – the first one is free! Affiliation to the club is an annual fee of £15 and players pay £1 for each training session they attend.
A Player Registration & Parental Consent Form must be completed before membership can be accepted. We also ask all players and their parents to sign ‘promises’. Click here to download all documents for joining Bridgwater Junior Netball Club. These can be completed and brought to your first session.
Once a player becomes a member of the club they are expected to show a high level of commitment, attending most training sessions and making themselves available for tournaments.
What do I need to bring to a training session?
Please wear appropriate clothing, i.e. shorts or netball skirts and a t-shirt. Trainers are very important – ‘trendy’ trainers are not a good investment for netball and can lead to injury. If you’re thinking of getting new trainers, please buy a pair that are designed for sport. They must also be laced tightly enough so that they won’t come off during training. Ensure that no jewellery is worn, long hair is tied back and nails kept short to avoid injury to others, and that valuables are left at home; however do bring plenty to drink but no food.
Matchplay
Tournaments are generally held every 4 to 6 weeks on a Sunday morning at The Blue School, Wells and we leave Haygrove at 8.30 am (matches start at 10.00) and we return about 2.00pm, although this depends on the number of games to be played. Transport is by private cars and it’s hoped that parents will help out whenever possible. Girls selected to play are requested to pay a match fee of £2.

As the tournaments are played outside, during the winter months, I would suggest that purchase of a sweatshirt/hoody be considered. We also offer a waterproof, fleece-lined jacket.
