Saturn v Vivary
36 – 54 defeat
With a new line up on court, Saturn’s first game of the season against Taunton’s Vivary started well. Timeless interceptions and tips from Saturn’s defenders Steph Carlin (GK) and Beckie Cowley (GD) shocked Vivary’s attack, overturning play and allowing the ball to travel up the court to the shooters who were able to put away the goals. Despite Saturn’s hard work the score favoured Vivary 27 – 22 at half time. Saturn battled in the third quarter but their confidence dropped as Vivary’s shooters put away countless goals. Newly selected Sam Woolacott (C) showed great movement throughout the court and good assistance around the circle edge, which gave the shooters chances to score. Unfortunately, Vivary’s defenders were on top form and easily read Saturn’s attacking play. Tight marking from Zoë Ingram (WD) pressurised Vivary, forcing them to make mistakes in their attacking end. Saturn persisted throughout the final quarter but were unable to keep up with Vivary’s play, losing the game 36 – 54.
